About Us

Welcome to the department of Rhetoric & Writing Studies. We teach a variety of undergraduate classes, including developmental writing, argument, academic discourse, as well as technical, scientific and business writing. The department offers an undergraduate minor in Rhetoric & Writing Studies, and a certificate in technical and scientific writing. We also offer a Masters degree that prepares students for advanced study in rhetoric, composition, communication, and related fields, as well as for careers in areas requiring advanced skills in written rhetoric.

There are many specialized careers that welcome graduates with writing and communication skills, such as public relations; corporate communications and training; publishing; document and information design; educational technology; web development; medical informatics; journalism; law; technical and scientific communication and teaching.
