Cezar M. Ornatowski (Ph.D., University of California, San Diego, 1991) is Professor of Rhetoric and Writing Studies and associate faculty in the Master of Science program in Homeland Security. He teaches courses in Visual Rhetoric; Rhetoric and Politics; Ideology, Discourse, and Conflict; Research in Rhetoric and Writing Studies; Rhetoric of Science and Technology, Modern Rhetoric and Composition; and Professional Writing. His research interests include rhetoric and political transformation (esp. in Central/Eastern Europe and South Africa); totalitarian and democratic rhetorics, extremist rhetorics; rhetoric and security, strategic communication, and professional communication. He was Senior Fulbright Research Scholar at the Institute for Philosophy and Sociology of the Polish Academic of Sciences in 1999. He is an Honorary Fellow of the Center for Rhetoric Studies at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. His publications include an edited anthologies Foundations for Teaching Technical Communication: Theory, Practice, and Program Design (Ablex 1997) and Rhetorics of 1989: Rhetorical Archaeologies of Political Transition (2015), articles in Advances in the History of Rhetoric, African Yearbook of Rhetoric (South Africa), Journal of Business and Technical Communication, Technical Communication Quarterly, Iowa Journal of Communication, Forum Artis Rhetoricae (Poland), Relazioni Internazionali (Italy), Journal for the Study of Religion (South Africa), and other journals, as well as chapters in numerous anthologies.
