Professor of Rhetoric and Writing Studies. Ph.D., English/American Literature and Rhetoric, University of California, San Diego, 1991. Research interests include rhetoric of science and technology, rhetoric and political transformation (esp. Central/Eastern Europe and South Africa), rhetoric and democracy. Publications include articles in Technical Communication, Technical Communication Quarterly, Journal of Business and Technical Communication, Advances in the History of Rhetoric, Journal for the Study of Religion, Relazioni Internazionali, and others, as well as chapters in anthologies and a co-edited collection (with Katherine Staples) Foundations for Teaching Technical Communication: Theory, Practice, and Program Design. Senior Fulbright Research Scholar (Culture Study Unit, Institute for Philosophy and Sociology, Polish Academy of Sciences, Warsaw.
