Linguistics, University of Southern California. Dr.
Poole has served on the SDSU faculty since 1989. She
holds a joint appointment between the Department of Linguistics & Oriental
Languages and DRWS, and coordinates the composition courses
for non-native speakers of English in each department.
She has co-authored several ESL textbooks and has been
involved in local and state efforts to improve intersegmental
articulation for ESL students in California public education.
Her research focuses on classroom interaction and its
connection to a range of cultural and pedagogical issues.
Her current interest is the linguistic connections between
spoken and written language in classroom literacy events.
