Linn Bekins, Ph.D., Educational Studies, emphasis in
Rhetoric and Writing, University of Utah
Dr. Bekins, Associate Professor and Director of the Advanced
Certificate Program in Technical and Scientific Writing,
has both industry and academic experience. Her research
interests include: scientific and technical communication,
rhetoric of science, discourse and community, document
design, curriculum design, and multimedia. Her publications
have centered on issues of scientific collaboration,
pedagogy, and program assessment. Since 1992 she has
worked as a writer, trainer, project manager, and consultant
in scientific and high tech organizations. In the department,
she has taught RWS 500, Advanced Composition; RWS 503,
Technical Writing; RWS 504, Problems in Technical Communication;
RWS 506, Writing Internships; RWS 508, Scientific Writing;
RWS 605, Writing Project Management, and RA 696: Medical/Scientific
Writing for Healthcare Professionals.
