English and American Literature, University of California,
San Diego. Dr. Boyd has served as the Director of Composition
at University of California, Riverside, since 1992. His
primary scholarly interests are the history of composition
theory and pedagogy, and he has published in the Journal
of Advanced Composition, Rhetoric Review and others.
Dr. Boyd's articles have been anthologized in The
Theory and Practice of Grading Writing: Problems and
Possibilities (eds. Z. and C. Weaver. SUNY Press, 1996) and The
Place of Grammar Instruction in Writing Instruction:
Past,
Present and Future (eds. R. Wallace and S. Hunter. Portsmouth:
Boynton/Cook, 1995). He has also published articles on
nineteenth-century American literature.
