Technical & Scientific Writing : Employers

Welcome to the SDSU website for our Advanced Certification for Technical and Scientific Writing. If you are looking for your next technical writer, work with us to see how we can help. Why work with SDSU?

Reputation

The program is the oldest, longest running program in the region and has been placing interns and hires throughout the region for over 20 years. Through good times and bad, SDSU has always focused on producing the region's finest technical communicators and building on its reputation among employers.

Real-world lessons

The program emphasizes hands-on, real-world skills with simulations of workplace writing, social dynamics, and tasks. The courses feature the latest tools used in the field, including Robohelp, Photoshop, Framemaker, and Dreamweaver.

Faculty

The courses are taught by scholars with extensive academic and industry experience. From biotechnology to finance to private and public sector experience, SDSU's broad range of faculty have decades of experience to offer. The cutting edge of industry often starts in academia, and the SDSU faculty are found there as well, often teaching the SDSU graduate students in SDSU's Department of Rhetoric and Writing Studies.

Internships

The sponsoring organization gains a knowledgeable, motivated trainee and an opportunity to screen potential employees. Most certificate and graduate students are in their late twenties or older; many have advanced academic and professional training not only in rhetoric, writing, and communication but also in technical or scientific subjects.
