Autumn Reyes is a San Diego native - born and raised! - and received her B.A. in English from SDSU in 2017. She completed her M.A. in English from SDSU in 2019, writing her thesis “The Stolen Sovereignty of the Pacific: A Rhetorical Analysis of Racial Injustice and Systemic Hierarchy in RICE v CAYETANO (2000)” on the rhetoric of the Supreme Court case RICE v CAYETANO (2000) and its inherent problems and biases that reveal the environmental racism and militaristic hegemony that continues to subjugate Hawai‘i and her people.

Autumn’s research interests include studying the rhetoric of Indigenous rights, Constitutional Law, and their usage within legal studies. She is also interested in the social narratives implemented within science fiction and horror media, as they are both used to effectively teach or critique society. Her teaching interests involve the rhetoric of copyright law, commercialization of culture, and how to identify social constructs and critiques within science fiction.

When Autumn’s not researching or writing, she’s re-reading Stephen King’s entire bibliography, learning how to flip the perfect pancake (so close!), or playing an absurd amount of Tetris.
