Bree Merschel received her California Single Subject Teaching Credential and B.A. in English Literature from the University of Redlands in 2016. She then spent three years teaching high school English at Summit Preparatory Charter High School, a small Bay Area school that utilizes personalized learning to prepare a diverse student body for success in life after high school. 

Within the past few years, Bree returned home to Southern California. She earned her M.A. in English Literature with an emphasis in American Literature at San Diego State University. During her M.A. program, she developed a passion for digital humanities and used Scalar to construct a digital essay for her culminating experience. 

Outside the academic setting, Bree spends most of her time hanging out with her fluffy golden retriever (Poe). However, you might also find her out rock climbing or attempting to surf.
