Katie Hughes has been a lecturer in the Department of Rhetoric & Writing Studies since 2003. She has designed several online courses and trained instructors to teach online courses for the department, having completed programs in the ITS Course Design Institute in 2011 and the CSU Proven Course Redesign with Technology in 2016-17. In addition, she has developed online courses for the Fowler College of Business and Global Campus.

Katie has served as an ITS Faculty Fellow since 2012, facilitating the implementation of instructional technologies and pedagogical strategies through the Course Design Institute, with a specialized focus on supporting faculty using Turnitin and the Canvas LMS. She also promotes the Learning Research Studios’ technology-enhanced, active learning classrooms. Most recently, she was named ITS Faculty-in Residence to pursue her work with ITS more extensively.
