Michele Bigley first started teaching in a tiny continuation high school in Los Angeles. Since then, she has explored the world as a teacher and writer, usually getting paid to write about her adventures for publications like the New York Times, AFAR, Wired, Outside, Los Angeles Times, Sierra and many more. She recently moved to San Diego from the Bay Area where she taught at UC Santa Cruz.
